About Anna Maria Leitzel
I am an emerging artist, and 2026 marks my first official year in business. As a self-taught oil painter, I am proud to carry on a rich lineage of female artists on my mother’s side.
Though creativity has always been an innate, constant current in my life, I found oil painting later on. I grew up in Colorado, attended the University of Colorado for my undergraduate studies, and earned a Master’s Degree from Brown University. For a decade, I worked as a health and human services researcher, focusing on statistics and epidemiology.
During the pandemic, I chose to step away from my career to become a full-time mother to my two-year-old and newborn. Overnight, my world shifted from analyzing complex research equations to navigating the profound, exhausting, and humbling realities of full-time caregiving. This transition forced me to redefine what success meant to me in my life. In that space of deep change, my creative drive became unignorably strong, transforming from a quiet outlet into a true calling.
When I first picked up a paintbrush, it felt like coming home. Writing with the language of color is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I continue to learn this language as I continue to grow as a painter.
The Medium & Mission
Oil paintings are a labor of time and patience. Beyond the hours spent at the easel, each piece must cure for six months to a year before it can be varnished. Once complete, however, these works are built to endure for centuries without ever losing their vibrancy. This is what makes oil paintings different from other painting mediums.
Deeply connected to the world around me, 50% of all profits from my work are donated to organizations dedicated to child welfare, animal welfare, and environmental conservation.
